Mother Lode Artist Hits Big Time!

Up and coming young artist Jerry Lee has had two of his latest paintings accepted into the exclusive annual PAWS for LOVE Auction and Gala (see http://www.pawsforlove.info/ ) to be held February 7, 2009, in Santa Rosa, California.

Proceeds from the February event greatly benefit the animals of Sonoma County, the North Bay, and beyond. The Paws for Love Foundation provides resources and funding to shelters, rescue groups, and individuals dedicated to improving the health, welfare, and adoptability of unwanted and abused animals. Funds raised by this event are also used to rehabilitate adoptable animals by providing necessary medical treatment, food and training for animals in foster care programs. Although the focus of the organization is in the Bay Area, they help animals wherever possible, including recently making a generous donation to our local Calaveras Humane Society (see http://www.calaverashumane.org/ ).

Jerry Lee’s creations are expected to bring top dollar at auction and he is excited about being able to “give back” after having been helped by humane organizations when he lost his home and family in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After surviving for 3 weeks alone on the flooded New Orleans streets, Jerry Lee was rescued and recuperated for a short time at a shelter run by United Animal Nations' Emergency Animal Rescue Service (see http://www.uan.org/ears/index.html) in Monroe, LA. He was then brought to California by his mother Mary Fitzpatrick where he lives with her, his father John Fitzpatrick, his brother Pancho the Cat and a few horses.
